what kind of lube would you put on it because it seemed like the sound is gone now.
You don't lube serpentine belts, ever. They use friction to operate. Lubricating the belt defeats the purpose of the belt and will cause slippage. You have temporary fixed the problem, but now more serious problems await if you don't replace those belts and clean all the pulleys.

well i took it back to the shop. the noise went away for a couple days.. but now it's back again. now the noise is not coming from startup only, but when i'm idle and when i'm driving. sounds like the belt is bad like a rubbing screeching noise anyone have any recommendations for local so cal shops? thanks.

Just tighten the belt! It will take you 10 minutes. Get under the front and remove the under-engine covers. It will be really obvious where the two adjustments are made. Loosen the tensioner wheel screw first, then tighten the belts with the adjusting screw. Don't over-tighten or you will reduce the life of your belts. Remember to re-tighten the tensioner wheel on completion. (Don't ever lube your belts!)

lol... learn to work on ur own car it really pays off. I used to take my car in all the time for the slightest problem but you save so much money doing it yourself.

Im gonna chime in with somethign ridiculous...AND IT WORKS!!!! shake a bottle of diet coke. then open it and let the carbonation out. do this a coupel more times, til teh carbonation is gone, then pour the flat diet coke on the belts, once it dries it gets SUPER STICKY and will stop squeeling belts (its an aspertame thing i guess) at any rate, i learned this one at a quickie lube when i was 17. having said that re adjust the belt tension and replace any cracked belts

Im suffering the same issue...The dealership has tightened twice and the problem seems to re-occur after a few days. The tech at performance nissan said he thought the AC belt was a bit too big but when i walked over to their parts dept. which is where i bought the belt from, they pulled my invoice and showed it to be what they described as the proper Gates belts. So someone is wrong but either way, nothing is more embarrassing than walking out of the Beverly Hills Hotel beautiful girl on my arm and the as soon as the Valet starts my car "SCREEEEEEEEECH" and everyone head turns. Girl says, OMG what is your car doing!!? I guess i can halfway laugh at it now but only if I never have to deal with it again.

No one cares more about your car than you do. Get under there and tighten it yourself. Once you see how easy it is, you'll want to lie under there all the time!
