Hi I was about to start a thread on this same subject I am glad I found this one because I was having trouble thinking in how I was going to describe the same issue. I am hearing the same exact noise and I am about to take my car to the dealership to get a recall taken care of and wanted to get this issue also fixed. So has anybody figured it out ?

Having same problem on my wife's, but it seems to be happening on almost every start, just a lot worst the first time of the day.

It almost sounds like the starter is continuing spining after the engine is running, but the teeth are working, because it's not having a problem starting.

I need to take it in for a recall also, and was thinking that they might say something to me when they are doing the work and they try to start it. I figured they will charge me just t o look at it even though its already in their for something else.

Any one ever figure this out, lots had the issue, is everyone still living with it?

If so, and i know it will last another 50k with this noise, fine.

Please any update from any one, maybe the people that just posted months ago.

Just wanted to post an update on what fixed my noise.

Hate when people have a problem and don't update with what the fix was, i always find the problem i'm having but not always the solution... anyways enough with the rant.

On my noise it was the starter. My guess the pinion wasn't kicking out and was getting stuck on the engine after it started, and was maybe spinning before it got kicked out.

New starter did fix the problem.

It also caused a new one though, now when it starts it stalls right after unless i give it gas, i saw someone with the same problem post they got it after they put in a new battery which is sort of what i'm thinking, i had just charged the battery and its starting better then it ever did before, so its probably the same problem, no one ever posted the fix though... damn did i just continue my rant.

Any ways thanks for all the help this forum is really full of info, and good knowledgeable peeps, keep it up everyone and remember to always post your solutions when you get the problem fixed!
