Your MAF sensor is on the way out. Time to pick up a new one for around $150.

It could be water too. There is a large rubber grommet that allows the wires to go through the firewall right smack in the middle of where the water comes off the windshield on the passenger side. There is even a large cutout in the plastic cover allowing the water to drop right on it. If you have had any work where something new was passed through there, check it out. A small amount of water getting through there can really make f*@# up your car. When it dries out - good as new. The rubber grommet actually envelops the plastic retainer. I had some work done and they just dropped the rubber piece on top of the plastic when they were finished. Water got in and the car went funcky chicken on me. No CEL but the car just couldn't get it's head straight enough to make 2 K RPM. Sounds like this could be you too.

What diagnostic trouble code was it throwing, usually the computer tells you almost EXACTLY what the problem is. Unless you aren't reading the codes.

G35 Coupe. Plenum spacer, k&n filter, z tube. Muffler delete.
Same issue after rain happened in Florida a month or so ago

My car has no splash guard and in the rain it just started to jerk. Fast forward to today after replacing all the cam and crank sensors, I’m getting the whole limp mode with no CEL or any codes. I’ve tried vacuuming out water from ipdm but by the time i did it was dry or it probably never got wet from that day in the rain. My next step is to change the maf or just clean my K&n or just both.

Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir
^^
I think your first step is to replace the fiberboard splash shield underneath your vehicle.

Or you could just order a case of parts that you can replace every time it rains

so I will be taking your advice with the splash guard. Following up for future readers, I swapped to a different ecu and it’s still in limp mode so I’m guessing it’s not the ecu. Cleaning my k&n filter and maf. So will testing those tomorrow once the filter is done.

Wondering if my car will shut off after my maf is unplugged while it’s on. That would say that the maf is bad right?

After hearing that engine should turn off once maf is pulled, I tested to see if it does and it stays on but throws a code. So I will be ordering another.

The engine will not stall with the MAF unplugged.

ok thanks for that info. I will just keep looking for the issue. I May just get some oem cam and crank sensors instead of generic ones. This limp mode issue did come after I replaced those with generic ones

It is not a big deal to remove that shroud for oil changes. Takes 2-3 min with a cordless drill with a 10mm socket adapter to remove the fourteen 10mm bolts
