What can I do in that lower range of $4500-$5000 is my question.
get some nice wheels

other thoughts are to have a nitrous setup with something for tuning it like an f-con or utec setup.

I'm not willing to go over $5K because frnakly I don't feel like pouring 40% more money into this car than I planned on doing for it is worth it.

I'd rather not get into a situation where "once you're in... you can't get out" because that probably means I'm stuck and continually having to pour dollars into this thing.

Anyone have any other suggestions besides a vortech that can be done and driven away for $5K ?

Call some performance shops...they will be glad to spend your money. I agree with everyone though...FI is the fastest/cheapest way to get to the numbers you mentioned.

Another route would be to go with forged internals, new heads, ECU flash. That would get you close...

you can NOT hit anywhere near ur HP goal w/o FI. NA w/full bolt-on's & tune will only get you near 300whp(on a Dynojet). if ya wanna go faster than that'll get ya then you needa lose some wieght: int, body and wheels. sticky tires help too.

so all of those suggestions net a gain of maybe 5-10 HP and maybe the same TQ although doubtful.

sounds to me like the combination of those mods would also have a cost of probably $2000 which is a waste of money for the gain.

why on earth would one need better ignition for a couple of breather mods and some retuning unless fuel was not being burned completely? there's no additionally larger injectors running there and frankly the garbage software that's out there is so heavily limited when it comes to a stock block that's not blown.

310 rear lb/ft peak: 360 lb/ft flywheel requires 360/75= 4.8 liters of displacement.
Torque per cubic inch/liter is a known physics wall ~~ 75 lb/ft per liter.
80 lb/ft per liter is possible with direct injection assuming the gasoline is higher quality than US Premium.

Swap in a new VK50 V8 should do the job.

okay, look... peak numbers aren't everything. w/no tune ur power curve is gonna be all over the place. i picked up 18whp from my reflash/tune. as for the ignition amp, you don't know this but ur factory spark purposely dies out at high RPM. also, ur ECU automatically over compensates for ur new opened up air flow. so now instead of running lean stock, ur running rich w/a few breather mods. FYI, more Air + more Spark + more fuel = more power.

^ so all the talk about 18 WHP from all these mods set you at what point on your final dyno ? maybe 275-280 even though I'm doubtful that it even reached that. please do share.

btw it's not a Civic, so you obviously don't know it all. if you start a thread askin' for help, it'd probably be a good idea to listen to the advice people give you since we've been there and done that.
