Guess what folks. I was duped by a local (Houston) dealership that wouldn't replace my valve cover for the infamous spark plug tube seal leak under warranty on 07/23/2007 with 65,364 miles. The repair cost to me was $541.
After investigating previous repairs (unrelated) with the dealership that I bought the vehicle new from in Virginia, the service manager exclaimed immediately that the valve cover repair should have been covered under the powertrain warrranty. She said the Infinity powertrain warranty is 72 mos./70,000 miles for all 1991-2008 models. She told me to call Infinity Customer Service at 800-662-6200. The West Houston service adviser swore up and down that my 2003 G35 sedan bought on 03/31/2002 only had a 48 mos./60,000 mile powertrain warranty and basically told me to get lost.
To make a long story short, Infinity is mailing me out a check for total reimbursement for the repair. I just received a call this morning to alert me.
So, hopefully this will help others who were told they were out of warranty, when in fact they were not.

I'll probably just pay down my credit card some more. Pretty exciting, huh?
I ended up trading the G35 in on a 2009 RAV4 V-6 two weeks ago. My wife had driven the G35 for almost 7 years, and it was time to freshen up my stable (2000 Tundra and 2004 S2000). She will be happier with the Toyota. It is much more practicle for her needs.

Has anyone replaced the Valve Cover them selves yet? I have pooling at one plug that i noticed while replacing my plugs and cleaning my TB and Mass Airflow Sensor. Not a whole lot of oil but a little bit. Im looking for covers and gaskets now. WE NEED A DIY. Dont make me do the DIY or else everyone will have F*%$ed up G's.
Ok, just took the chance and bought the right side valve cover off ebay for $25 from a reputable salvage yard (are there any). But hell, $25 bucks is worth the chance. Anyways, i am going to try to replace my faulty one and i will either show pictures or video when i complete it. If anyone has any recommendations (besides your a dumbA$$ for buying a used one off ebay) please PM me.

took my car in this morning for the valve cover and seal work. do i have to let them know i have an aftermarket plenum spacer installed? i don't want them put it all back together and find out they left that and the isothermal gasket off.
on another note the 07 g35 loaner is a blast to drive despite being a automagic slush box. 4500rpm and up and whoa!!! it lurches.... still not as fun or engaging as a true manual though. miss my car's exhaust note already.
so glad i found this thread. thanks a lot bythabay.

^ I had the work for the valve cover gasket done at the dealer with the Z-tube and MD plenum spacer under the hood. I reminded the service consultant about those mods, and she said she'll pass on the word to the service techs. The dealer took 1 day to complete the work, and the engine mods were put back into place like they were before with no problems. I didn't get any SES lights or anything strange like that.

checked the valve covers for leakage after the dealer replaced them and they are dry and clean. no more oil around the spark plug tubes... i did this because i had not properly torqued the spark plugs with torque wrench when i replaced them. (thought the fsm said 20 in-lb and it seem incorrect as i could lightly tighter even more by hand, so when i went back to look at the fsm more carefully it was actually 20 ft-lb. big difference) i'd figure i go re-torque the brakes anyway during the same time. valve covers are nice and new factory matte black finish. I'd wish they would be something different but it does the job.
