wow, this sucks. I wish I had seen this b4 my pwrtrain warranty expired.
I have 49.5k mi and in service date of 10-02
B/c my pwrtrain wty is over, I don't want to do spark plugs until I hit 100k mi; at that time(5 more years) I will find out if it is a regular job or valve cover/gasket job for 800-$1000 bucks
In the mean time,
I will watch out for rough idle, misfiring, rough/weak/hesitant acceleration-but that's it. Maybe I will be one of the lucky ones!
btw, I would be afraid to tell the dealer to check for this problem b/c they could simply add some oil and show it to me and then charge me $1000 to fix. If I don't saying anything and they honestly find oil, will they tell me? Will I be suspicious? yes.

I'm at 125K miles right now and the car has been feeling a little sluggish lately. Which is actually ok because I've gotten three tickets in the past two years and I need to slow the heck down anyway. But anyway, I pulled the plugs just right now and lo and behold there's oil in there. I originally purchased the extended warranty too, but I'm pretty sure I'm way over that also.
ughhhhh, now I need to figure out what to do. I think I'm going to hold off on doing anything for the time being. I need to replace my brake pads/rotors first and then I'll get to it.

107K miles...wished I'd seen this post 37K ago.
I just got my plugs replaced, and sure enough...the right side has oil leaking. I'm getting both sides replaced, and replacing the coil that leaked. Is $675 for parts good for this? I'm getting it done at my local repair shop - they're usually very good and have reasonable prices.
Wish I'd seen this post before my powertrain warranty went up...oh well.

All these leaks are caused by factory not putting the seal in straight. If you were to buy a set of new valve covers from dealer flip them over and look at the back. 4/6 valve covers will have at least one that is not centered.
Machine "molds/melts" rubber seals in to the plastic valve cover. And as i said above has hard time getting that **** in straight. So as soon as rubber hardens after few years it is unable to keep an even seal around the spark plug tube...and leaks. Expect to replace the valve cover again in a couple years....promise.
Sadly i have done more of these valve covers then i can remember, and its the cause every time.
