I don't normally pick apart threads like this but I believe it's important to squash misinformation quickly so less experienced folks don't think it's actually true.
Here is a line-by-line of everything wrong with the previous post.
Not trying to be an A-hole, just trying to keep the facts straight.
No this is the Nissan engineering recommended cold weather viscosity for temperatures down to zero degrees.
100% BS, viscosity has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with whether an oil is conventional, synthetic, or blend
This is the viscosity of oil that the people who engineered the engine designed it to run with, it has to do with bearing clearances and oil pump design.
10w-30 has been the recommended oil for pretty much every gasoline engine ever produced since the early 1960's when it became readily available.

Again, 100% BS, you have that completely backwards. 30 is a lower viscosity than 40, lower viscosity = thinner oil
Correct 5w-30 is recommended for better fuel consumption but your 1L per 100km is laughably BS, that's equal to 235mpg...
Now that that's done, I strongly recommend you do some better research into motor oil, why specific viscosities are recommended by the engineers / manufacturer. How ambient and operating temperature factor into viscosity selection. Differences between synthetic/conventional and the pro's/con's of each. Oil shear, bearing selection, viscosity selection.
I feel like you WANT to help people, but spreading misinformation doesn't help anyone.

Also 10w30 is unsuitable in cold climate especcially in starting.
Usually 10w30 is half synthetic not full synthetic, and its oil capabilities are minor.
I would bever use 10w30 on G35.
You can use it on VW passat from 1985.
in cold climate 10w30 turns to gel not oil. That us proven fact.In - 15-20C.
Of course if you live in California or Florida yes maybe but additives in 10w30 is not top rank.in hot engine 5w30 gets thicker than 5w40.VISCOSITY is better.
Plus 5w30 gives better fuel consumption as much as possibly 1L per 100 km.

There is zero excuse to be ignorant these days. Gaslighting gets you nowhere. Keeping a closed mind to facts and new ideas/research is not the right way to live. If 10w-30 engine oil was so bad, then explain why when I went to Walmart just 2 days ago, every oil manufacturer offers a 10w-30 along with every other viscosity you can think of.... On top of that, just read the darn owners manual of your car. Like many, many many other cars on the road today (and years prior), 10w-30 is approved to ran in them by the manufacturer.
