Stillen Mods

Hello, just got my G35 6MT Coupe back from the dealer who installed several Stillen mods: Cold Air Box; Headers; and Cat Back Exhaust. Wow! What a difference. The performance feels much livelier, particularly in the mid to high RPM ranges, but low level throttle response is improved also.

The sound is awesome - quiet at idle and small throttle applications (with a deeper tone), but menacing/thrilling at WOT.

Definitely recommended even though somewhat costly (particularly installation cost at my Infiniti dealership, but the work was very well done).

Re: Stillen Mods

Glad you like it, stillen makes good headers and excellent exhaust. Let me make a suggestion, your next mod should be test pipes or high flow cats, as your cats are a major bottleneck now. You have got headers that allow for a much better air flow then the stock headers, but they are slowed big time by the restrictive cats.

Drive safely!

Re: Stillen Mods

Stillenizedg,

How many "open loop" driving miles do you have since installing your new mods?

My car kept getting stronger by the day for over a week as the ECM program adapted to the major increases in air and exhaust gas flow. I think part of the reason for it taking so long was the lack of serious "open loop" driving miles on my part.

Re: Stillen Mods

Gurgen, thanks for the advice. I may try your suggestion down the road after I do some suspension mods later this year. Do you know if high flow cats are legal in IL - I have no idea if this can be done legally. Thanks again.

Re: Stillen Mods

DaveO, I have less than 50 miles post the mods. My impressions are really just initial ones, though I'm glad to hear things may get even better!

Re: Stillen Mods

RT cats are carb-approved. You need to look up your applicable state law, but the law that i know off might be federal. It states that you cannot replace cats on the car, even if they are damaged, with anything but the stock cats. But then again, who cares... You know that with the RT cats at least - and probably with the Crawfords as well, you are not polluting as they are CARB approved.

Re: Stillen Mods

StillenG,

Great news -- thanks! I got my cat-back exhaust yesterday and hope to install it next week. Looking forward to the added ponies and the sound too! Keep us posted on how it improves when the ECU smartens up...

Re: Stillen Mods

So its my understanding in case I am a lazy bum I can fo to my Infiniti dealership and they will Install my Stillen CAB for me???

Also High Flow Cats are ilegal in IL but I have had them on all my previous cars and considering them for this one. As long as they pass the visual test and all your sensors are installed correctly so you dont throw an error when you go test it is fine. Worst case scenario save your stock cat. Here is Chicago we get 3 chances to pass I believe so if you fail go get your stock welded on temp then switch back out. It will be $50 to switch out and back but thats better than fines.
