I need to polish the pipe and change the bolts from the clamps. It was a quick and dirty install. I got the clamps and reducers from Hose Techniques. They have great customer service by the way.

Finished the install today the right way. Now I need to detail the engine bay and get that ****ing pollen out.

 

I ordered this to complete the intake. I have another 3.5" 90 degree L pipe coming and I'll bring the intake behind the grill when I have time.

304 ss is for something else. The aluminum sheet is to make support brackets for the pipes.

 

Today I relocated the horns and test fitted the pipe and intake. Everything fits perfect.

Next month I'll take the bumper down and drill through the radiator support and have this finished properly. I'll try and keep it looking like the 350z intake hole and I'll use a 90 degree silicone coupler in black to match the black radiator support.

I dont get the point of this. You still have a small throttle body.

 

Kits flow more than enough air for a stock block. Why dont you spend the money on internals?

 

so we have a stock TB, a stock MAF, and a big fat pipe connecting the 2. Now you intend to run another big fat tube to relocate the air filter directly behind the grill where it will get totally soaked if you ever drive in the rain and will get equally soaked when you wash the car.

I am when I FI the car. I actually plan on buying a used engine and building that.
It's going to have a shield over the side of the filter that is facing the grille.


and I think I can use the MAF and TB from the VQ40. But the TB on the VQ40 is only .25" bigger.

 

Sorry, but I think this is a waste.....without going to a larger maf at the very least this won't produce. Noble idea and attempt to be different, but not well planned out.

There is more to a productive intake then just volume of air it can flow. You need to factor in resonance, air velocity, and pressure as well.

 

i think the effort woulda been been better used on a "power chamber" style setup, could duplicate the pressurization effect that the OEM intake.

 

I am sorry but now this just became even more pointless. You put a giant tube and filter behind the grill (where it blocks the majority of the radiator) for increased flow. But you are covering the huge filter with a huge metal shield??

So you are going to have your filter sandwiched between a hot radiator on one side and hot piece of metal on the other? All of this is going though a 2.25 inch stock throttle body? Am I missing something here?

 

Not too mention going through a filter without a velocity stack and a 70mm maf before even hitting the secondary tube. I would be utterly surprised if this set-up came even remotely close to a stock box. My guess is this is a ~5whp loss over stock.
