Is royal purple the most superior oil out there?
Quick question: For those of you who are using AMSOIL, how often are you changing your oil? The reason I ask, is because the Amsoil Sig. Series 0W-30 recommends to change every 35,000 miles or 1 year which ever is sooner. (under NORMAL driving conditions) OR 17,500 miles or one year. (For SEVERE driving conditions) How is this not cheaper?

AMSOIL saves a lot of money vs other oils, including Pennzoil.
I used RP in my last car on all but one change which I used pensoil and HATED it. Mileage sucked, power felt worse, took longer to rev up. From my experience, RP is the best, I havn't used Amsoil or any of those though. The G has been mobil1 since I got it but next change will switch to something else, not sure yet.
Well for my own .02, Ive tried many oils in many different vehicles from my bike to my boat. While I haven't tried RP yet except in my boat tranny, Amsoil for now is what I'm using. I like it over Mobile 1 for durability and overall performance. I've noticed cleaner oil after changes and quieter running motors. PP I dont really care for other than the price. I didn't see any evidence to otherwise to keep running it. Actually I spun a rod bearing in my Big Block after only 1k miles using it. I know there are other contributing factors there, but after a rebuild by the same guy and running Amsoil its been running like a champ for two seasons. I'd like to try Motul or Redline next. Redline is well know in the snowmobile scene as well as Amsoil.

What year is your car? If it's 2004+, you'd do well to use an API SM rated motor oil.
Theres already been oil analysis done on FI cars with all brands and the best is Amsoil. All others showed piston ring wear. It was on my350z or vqmotoring.

Funny thread, everyone has an opinion. Personally I doubt if you can
do much better than Mobil 1.It's even avalilable at Wall Mart, I found out Costco sells it with Mobil 1 filter for $24.99....that's a great deal! I use
Red Line synthetic 10W/30 cause I live in a warm climate, and it's high quality oil! Gary

Am I the ONLY one that finds this just the slightest bit ignorant ?!?
7500 miles. I use 5w-30
I did a couple of oil analysis and the company came back and said the oil had at least that much more left in it, for a total of 15,000 miles. I figure a motor is more expensive than oil.
Do you have references for the F1 test? Please post a link or PDF...
Ive used the Greddy oil, Amsoil, RP, mobil1, and a lot of other products both on FI cars, fully built all motor cars, and daily drivers.
my favorite Eneos, but I have to order it. we ran Greddy just after the motor swap in the S13. I didnt notice much different but the Amsoil was real reliable and I can pick it up at the parts stores.

The need to point out others supposed "ignorance" or to criticize others is far more disturbing trait
