I'm guessing the gearing in the tranny is too short?

yep - not enough gear... if we had 7 sp you could do it... 3.9 might be okay, but since its not an OEM ring & pinion, it more expensive - and still might whined out too quick for 5 sp... 3.692 is what the 07+ sedans have and the G37... and Frontier

So what models have the different gearing? (sorry to Vivek for OT'ing your thread, but it's kind of on topic!)

3.3FD: 03-04 sedan, ?
3.5FD: ?
3.7FD: 07+ Sedan, G37, Frontier

Which models are also a LSD?

I would say cams fall into the APU category...

Awesome! I'm gonna PM that info to myself, and then save it haha

ALL of the G37's and 07+ sedans have the 3.7 gearing though, correct? How do you like yours? Big difference in acceleration?

cams would be internals.

I don't particularly consider any head work/valvetrain upgrades to be "internals", because it's bolted to the top of the motor. Only thing I really consider internals are rods, pistons, bearings, crank, sleeves, etc...

You expose a head gasket, it's internal. Valve covers, no, heads yes.

typically most people consider external power adders "bolt-ons"... intake, exhaust, various spacers, etc... getting in the cylinder heads and making changes wouldn’t normally be considered bolt-ons IMO... if it were, then any head work in a bolt-on too. Further, I wouldn’t call valve work bolt-ons either...

If it’s bolted the exterior of the engine, it’s a bolt on.
