Back probably 10 years my friend went to tech school. A guy at his school took Porsche 911 guts and put them into a Honda CRX body. that **** looked perfectly normal but man i bet when he got on it the thing flew

how come people get all hott and bothered over a VQ37 swap lately but not as many people mention a VR38DETT swap? i imagine it'd be expensive as ****, but its going to be more likely to be cost effective to find a totaled GT-R down the road and drop that in an older G than it would be to drop the VQ37.

is it just that profoundly different, or has it just not come up cause no one's wrapped their GT-R around a light post yet?

I personally would love to do the vr38dett swap, but dont have 20G's (one just came up on ebay if anyone caught it for 18G's about two months ago) and I am already in the build stage of my 700hp 2jzgte swap into my G anyway. I am curious to know if anyone has done the G37 front clip yet to though, havent found any info on it, but I'm pretty sure its almost direct fit for the fenders, bumper, headlights, and hood, (wish carbon 37 parts were out now) but I dont know if the rad support is any different. I guess I'm the official G Hacker of this thread, and will be the first to find out.. BTW: I'm doing some R&D with carbon fibre currently as well, so keep an eye out for full carbon roof with sunroof delete, and +3 rear quarters

The transmission is located way different than the 37 motors. Its actually mounted in the rear of the car. I would the swap is the 38tt would take cutting up the interior of the car...wheel base is shorter so the AWD transmission couldn't be mounted right...in this case it would be cheaper to just buy a gtr.

I don't understand why people are so against the vq37 swap. Stock g37's are running 13.6 on the quarter mile and i'm sure the g37 is heavier than the g35. Your looking at possible 12's with the swap and a couple bolt ons. Im sure you can get the transmission and engine used on ebay for like 6 grand.

Not that I plan on doing it, but It would be pretty badass to have an M45 motor in a 6-spd G35 with very options

Of course who knows if the 6-spd can take that torque
here's a Q45 V8 in a G for ya.

I thought about this topic the other day but since i have a M45 i was thinking of one day when my engine blows or somethin, throwing in a R34 engine in or maybe the new GTR engine with the drive train. An AWD TT, 6 speed would be nice to have. Like i said one day, Y, because a few years from now a bunch of GTRs will be wrecked so why rush into buying one now when they're brand new and expensive. Plus later on they're bound to have more power!

seems like it would be a lot of work for not a lot of gain.
