Does the '05+ auto VQ engine have oil consumption problems?

I've read that the 'rev up' motor has oil consumption issues, and the rev up engine became available in 2005, but is the engine from a 2005+ automatic G35 a detuned 'rev up' or is it the non-rev up version?

Is oil consumption an issue for any automatic '05+ G35 coupes?

OC is not an issue with non-revup motors. Short answer: No.

cool, thanks for the 2 for 1 answer. I was wondering if it was a carry over non-rev up (vs. a detuned rev up) and if it had the OC issue.

i think autos consume oil. i have an o6, i change the oil around 8k, I use mobil one ep. Im not sure if its because it's synthetic,(oil it guaranteed for 15k but i never go that high, i just don't trust it.) The oil seems low after like 6k. 1/4 off the dip stick. SO i top it off. But def. the oil is lower.

Hmmm... is that just a unique experience though if the '05+ auto doesn't have the rev-up that has the TSB out for oil consumption?

IMHO, going beyond 3.5 or 4K you might see a little consumption in any car.....
I change my oil between 3 and 3.5K miles and have never seen any oil consumption in my Infiniti cars.
two 05 Sedans & one 04 Coupe (traded on of the 05 sedans for the coupe)

Do not believe there is any OC problems with the AUTO's.

OC is normal for our cars.. VQs are just like that.. you have a prob if youre consuming around a quart for every 1000 miles.. if youre not then youre fine...

easy check is if youre at the high mark and a 1000 miles later youre at low mark.. you have probs..

if your at mid way your borderline.. if its only a lil bit down after 1000 miles then your cool like a penguin..

The TSB for excessive oil consumption was for the REVUP engine.

...BUT, the VQ itself consumes quite a bit of oil compared to many other engines out there. It's just the nature of this engine.

I know that there have been a number of folks who say that their VQ has burned oil. However, there are folks, including myself who haven't seen any oil consumption. Hopefully I won't either.

FWIW, I have an 08 Sedan X sport with 10K miles and the first 9K miles or so, I used the paddle shifters exclusively to ensure a good break-in. I only commute 9.5 miles each way to work and it's all local roads, 8 traffic lights going to work and 7 lights on the way home so I really varied the engine speed and used the trans. I also have no problem flooring it if I have to.

That said, to say "...the VQ itself consumes quite a bit of oil compared to many other engines out there. It's just the nature of this engine." is a stretch, IMHO.
