is a shorter beep (or adjustable) being implemented. To me, it still sounds rather long. The BMWs and Lexus at my work have very quick beeps ans not too loud either.

+1

I agree that it is way too loud for my preference. I don't want my neighbors 4 doors down the street to hear it, much less wake up my entire house when I come home late at night.

Any possibility of adding a pot or instructions for adding a resistor to the siren to quiet it down?

At the present time there is no way to adjust either length or volume. If you think it is too loud then the best fix is to place the beeper in a secluded spot under the hood. I started out with mine in the brake booster compartment, but it wasn't loud enough for me, so I moved it down by the motor. It was much louder outside of the compartment.

As far as waking your neighbors up, when my car is in the garage and I'm inside I can barely hear a sound from it. It is MUCH quieter then the horn.

Alright, now that is much better! Like somebody posted in the install thread, I was still under the impression it was going to sound like the truck back-up siren. I love it. Sign me up (when it's ready) !!

I created this thread back when I owned my 03. So when I bought my used 08 just a couple weeks ago, I thought for sure Infiniti would have changed the cheap sounding honk-honk when the doors are locked to a more refined electronic tone. Much to my dismay... IT STILL HONKS! WHY?

Acura and Lexus all use a refined, high-tech tone, but Infiniti still uses (at least in 2008) a duck sound to tell the driver the doors are locked. Okay, Infiniti, I get it. You want to be different than the rest. Good thinking. But be different in a way that makes you look like a cutting edge company, not a farm tractor company.

Is the honk still alive and well in the 2010 models?
