Engine squeaks on cold start ups
Engine squeaks on cold start ups
As the title says, I hear a squeak from the engine bay area on cold start ups.
I'm not sure if it is the belts. I have replaced the oil and filter just recently.
I do have a coupe middy installed but thats it for exhaust components.
Any suggestions on how to fix the squeak? Thanks in advance!

If that car was driven even 10,000 miles/year it would have ~50K. I can see the belts being gone by then.
OP look at your belts and look for cracking or missing nibs. I would recommend replacing with OEM belts and DIY. Will cost you $40 and take less than an hour.

Just like anything else... whether it be belts or an FI engine popping... everyone is different.
Searching this forum I saw belts break at 25,000 miles and other not replacing it until 100,000 miles. I can see the belts being done by 50K also, but the OP doesn't seem to mechanically knowledgeable (meant in the nicest way, not an insult at all) and while tightening, if the belts were cracked surely he, or the shop, would recognize it and just replace the belts. Mine squealed at 20K and just needed tightening, it's starting to squeal again at 35K and will likely only need to be tightened again.
Just clarifying

My belt started squealing 2 weeks ago after we had heavy rain for days here in NJ. After tightening the belt it stopped for awhile then started back again as soon as it rained again. I'm gonna tighten it up one last time before I replace them. Without a belt tension gauge how can you tell when it's tight enough (don't want to over tighten it

Be careful not to over-tighten belts. When I replaced my belts I replaced the bearings as well. Only about a $35 add to the bill and an extra measure to ensure I addressed the squeaking problem.
