Getting a new block/ new car
Getting a new block/ new car
ok, so about a month ago i figured out that i was 8000 miles over my last scheduled oil change and i started to hear a noise from the front of my engine. i went and got my oil changed, but figured out that I almost threw the front rod, which explains the noise. about a week ago the noise got way worse and the car is parked in my drive way. i am wondering if i should get a whole new block with better internals ready to go for a turbo? or just sell it and get a new different type of car?

You can get a stock block and just swap it in drive away
OR
Find a vendor here that can get you pistons, rods send your block out to the machine shop and have them put the engine together. (first find out if you need to bore the engine over and if you need thicker bearings.

Did you go 8k over the ~3k recommended change-for a total of ~11k w/out oil change, or 8k since last oil change? How do you know that your engine is done besides hearing a noise? Does the car run? Is it really weak on power? Are you throwing any codes (cels)?
Maybe you were running really low on oil. Do you check your oil levels regularly?
If you upgrade to lower compression built engine for turbo, just know you will be making less power than stock while you are N/A b/c of the lower compression.
Have diagnostics done on the car by a professional before buying/building a new/used block to be sure your engine is really toast before you shell out $$$.

^ +1. 8k over 3k or 8k since your last oil change? Well if you were on synthetic oil, I think you would have been okie. But for regular dino oil 11k is a lot!
