I'll repeat it again cause it's probably been mentioned in all these pages, MotoDynes spacer ISO is the best bang for your $$! The spacer corrects a Nissan design flaw or maybe it had something to do with the hood closing....lmao Between the spacer and tune those are the two best ways to increase RWHP in a first gen NA VQ motor without a total rebuild. HFCs and a quality dual exhaust are a close second!

This thread.....

03-04 6MT - Spacer only
03-07 5AT - Spacer only
05-07 6MT - Spacer + MREV2

Basic will work
ISO will work better in warmer climates
ISO copper will work better in colder climates

5/16" for low-medium rpm power
1/2" for medium-high rpm power

How did this thread get 80+ posts?

Cool story! Nah jk. Most people don't live by riverside infiniti though. I got mine for $199 free shipping on eBay. That's an iso thermal too. Not bad

Not trying to be difficult but I understand that the ISO will be better in places like arizona, and the copper will be better in places like canada, however for temperate climates that around around 55-75 degrees, which would be better or is there no real difference?

I've been running the 1/2" spacer ISO with copper because I wanted to restrict the heat coming for the block which the copper does. Living in a warm climate I've kept the by pass hose closed since I installed it with no issues. This was my second mod back in '05 and one of my best decisions....Gary

Think of the copper as a "set it and forget it" part. The ISO comes with a valve that you splice in that shuts off coolant to the upper plenum / throttle body. When it's warm, you shut this valve (cutting off flow) keeping the whole plenum thermally isolated. When it's cold out, you open the valve (allowing flow) which keeps the throttle body from freezing. Basically coolant flow is a little heater.

The Copper replaces this valve. Coolant always flows, but instead of going into the upper plenum, it warms a plate on the throttle body directly. With the copper, you don't have to remember open the valve when the weather gets cold... set it and forget it.
