James, I'd try to get the money back... post a couple above right, its probably an oc engine (although on replacements, the dealer will always keep the engine to send in for eval).

Seller misrepresented what you bought - and you definitely dont want to go through the trouble of making it work for your car then finding out you have more problems then the engine you replaced.

I know you are an R&J guy, but talk with Technosquare and see if they can source an engine for you (or help you determine if its worth dealing with what you have).

I'd have to return it to Vegas where I got it from and based on the price it's just not feesable for what I paid for it...guy had it listed for $500.

I may just put an ad in craigslist

What bothers me is that he had the tranny to go with it so that is what made me believe it was not an OC motor. since the OC problem was s mainly on manuals(then again my 2004 auto sedan sucks 3 quarts a weeks)

If you are only going to use the short block, then consider putting a set of new rings in it.

^^^ let him figure out how to get it back (you had to ship it to your end - he can figure out getting it back)... or at least let him know that he phucked you and you want partial refund.

The reality is you'd have to go to small claims court (in Vegas) to get a judgment - so trying to get him to agree to something between you now is at least worth a shot.

I'd make the seller pay for everything. Unless you paid in cash I'd file s chargeback if he/she refused. Selling you a bad motor that isn't even the right motor is BS.

I picked it up myself in Vegas and paid cash.

I spoke to the guy all he said was "Sorry" it's not worth me fighting over this. I know he lost his job and to take it back to him or even expecting him to pay for shipping cost when you're unemployed just won't happen.

I doubt he intentionally did me wrong because he bought the tranny and motor for a 240 transplant. He said he bought it from a salvage coupe with 30K miles.

Lesson Learned.

So I put it for sale..see what happens.

I just can't afford to see if it will work by interchanging parts and maybe not working right then I would be without my daily driver.

good luck James.

But if you decide to keep the motor, changing the rings would be your best bet as someone else has said
