Okay, got in contact with the shop.

+1 to everyone who called the knocking on a connecting rod.
-1 to me for having to get a replacement engine.

Best way to give thanks is to hit the "thanks" button. But at least you finally know for sure and go about fixing it.

I was wondering about this symtom also. All the answers here helped me to minimize to cost of fixing.
