Urgent help please! Engine turns about 3/4 turn, stops.
The shop doing my engine replacement just came up against a brick wall of sorts. Everything installed, they went to turn it over, and it went about 3/4 of a rotation and just stopped completely, both with the starter and with manually turning the engine.
Any ideas on what this would be? I hope it's something simple.

It's a "new" remanufactured engine, if it's a bent rod, that would be pretty aggravating, as that's what's wrong with the engine I'm replacing.
Also, another reason I wish that engine from you guys hadn't been ruined by the shipper.
Anyone else have an idea of what it could be?

Ok, my guys says, to look in the spark plug holes, and see if there is water in them.... if not, said the engine might have been sitting for awhile and built up crud around the pistons, and said to spray wd40 in each of the cylinders to break it free

definitely no crud or water in there. I'm really hoping it was just a valve with off-timing at this point.

I'd considered something with the clutch myself, it's not a replacement clutch, so the throwout bearing is the same as before. If it's in neutral when the engine is attempted to be turned, will this eliminate the throw out arm as a possible cause?

Oh, and update, I got word that it possibly rotated completely around today, but the tech wasn't able to put much time into the car.
I should know by noon tomorrow.
Update:
Car's good to go. Not sure what the problem was that kept it from turning initially, but it's running pretty good now. The month-old gas seems to make the car make a small "puff" sound randomly, or it could be a sensor that didn't take too kindly to the water. No codes at all though, so I'll just bring it up with the shop when I visit them tomorrow to deal with the old engine, and hopefully find out what the problem with it turning over was.
There was also a misaligned shifter plate that made 5th and 6th gear nearly impossible to find, but I took care of that myself.

Epilogue:
Still not sure why it didn't turn over, but it's running OK now. Sometimes make little "puff" sounds out the exhaust, but I'm just blaming that on stale gas (6 weeks) for now, as it seems to be getting better.
There was some pretty bad rattling sounds coming from the bell housing for a little while, but that seems to have stopped. Possibly just the dual-mass settling or something?
