Same problem, Aamco told me it was the front bearing in the trasmission.

Unhappy

I've got the same problem, with almost 250,000 kms, plus a nice cold Ontario winter, it squeels even louder now but goes away after it gets warm. After taking it a reputable shop, was told basically need a new clutch.

If you have the exact same problem I described, then it's probably NOT your clutch. I replaced mine and nothing changed.

Your whine goes away when clutch is depressed? Might just be your accessory belts if it goes away when the car warms up...

No, throw out bearing makes noise when you press IN the clutch.
