Angry Engine Ticking Please help !!!

I have a 03 6mt with 130k miles . My engine is making a very loud ticking and when i hit the gas to accelerate it ticks faster . I tried the oil change , lucas all of those tricks and i grabbed a screwdriver and put it on the timing cover so it is not the tensioners . So what is left ? The lifters ? I looked to find a good diy with pictures to change the lifters but i cannot find one can someone please help me find a good diy so i can do it on my own?

Here is a link to the video ...

Ignore the part when he walks to the back of the car my friend is an idiot

Like superchargedg said check oil level.

Valve train noise will be louder because of the plastic valve covers.

There are no lifters to change out. DOHC setup with valve buckets/cam followers.
If running low oil for awhile than camshafts/valve buckets could be worn.

Recent oil change and your engine sounds like that? Your engine didn't make this noise before you changed oil, what was used and what viscosity?

My engine started to make this noise about a month after i bought it im assuming the previous owner did not take bery good care of it so then i used 10w30 synthetic mobil 1 with lucas to see if it would quiet down but that did not help

New motor would be cheaper than paying someone to dissemble your engine and look for the problem. This could be anything from bad tensioners to valve tap, or maybe the valves are just worn which can be the case if the oil changes were not done on time or the engine was starved for oil.

Overall, if you choose to repair this, it will cost far more than just getting a salvage low mileage engine and paying someone to swap it for you. Unless you have tools and the time to take the heads off/take the timing cover off to check the tensioners then you're looking at a very hefty repair bill. I doubt this is tensioners thought, this sounds live valve tap and its pretty serious if it increases with RPM. Its unlikely its the fuel dampers as well. This is strictly valve train noise and different oils or additives will not help here...

Even if you go down the swap route, you can always recoup some money from the bad engine. You can always part out the engine, people always need small bits and pieces off the engine and you will eventually shift some stuff off it for some cash. I bought a maxima with a bad motor, simply swapped it with a low mileage motor and parted out the old, busted engine. I bought new engine with 50K miles for $700 and parted out the old engine with combination of craigslist and forums classfields ads. Eventually over about 6 months time i recouped $500ish from the old, broken motor.

Get creative, if money is tight you can always find ways of getting some back. You can always scrap the engine for metal, aluminum is in demand and considered as a valuable metal. Only if you supply pure aluminum, so you'd have to remove any other metals from the engine and have pure aluminum only if you want top dollar for the metal. Since your engine is not busted but just has mad valve tap, you can find a engine rebuilder who can pay you a pretty good dollar for the whole engine and you'd get some cash back and not have to part it out if your tight on time.

So, get creative.

Mind you, it was a FWD maxima motor. FWD VQ and RWD are different and are priced differently as well.

I used car-part.com, look for motors with various ranges in terms of mileage from you as many places will ship the motor for like $100 extra. Look around and don't rush, eventually you might find a deal.
