06 5AT oil leak

EDIT: See here how I solved it: https://g35driver.com/forums/6850277-post16.html

Just bought my coupe at 77k miles, it now has 78k. I noticed a leak today and went under to investigate. There is oil all over the oil pan. I checked to see if the oil filter was on tight and it was. I tried to trace the wetness up as far as I could see oil and I don't think it goes above the oil pan. Could that mean that I need a new oil pan gasket?

Attached are some pics I tried to take of the oil on the pan.

I have same issue I thought maybe it was from over cranked oil filter from last oil change..just recently had it changed again so waiting for build up or results to see what's causing this issue

I did the oil change myself and hand-tightened the filter. So I don't believe that is the problem (at least in my case).

When you remove the oil filter guys, the threaded shaft that the oil filter screws on to is removable with a 22mm socket or wrench. Remove this shaft so that the oil cooler comes loose and you will find a big orange o-ring that is the culprit. Might cost 10 bucks or so at the dealer. We do probably 10 a week at the dealership and if you don't know it is there, you will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out where the leak is coming from. This will take care of your leaks. Hope this helps

There is a gasket between the oil cooler and engine that tends to go bad. It might appear that the oil pan is leaking but its not. You unscrew the threaded stud that the oil filter goes onto and there is a gasket behind the oil cooler. The gasket is cheap and takes only a few minutes to replace.

The part number is 21304-JA11A. Torque stud to 36 ft lbs when done and put oil on new gasket.

No absolutely not, don't even take the coolant lines loose at all. Take the threaded shaft out and you can maneuver the oil cooler to clean and remove o-ring without taking coolant hoses loose.

Just finished replacing the oil cooler o-ring. Here are my results for anyone that has the same issue:

1) Bought the Oil Cooler O-Ring (part #21304 JA11A) from my local Nissan dealer for $6.19.

2) Took off my skid plate with its million bolts.

3) Ewwwww

4) Oil Cooler Stud removal with 22mm deep socket and oil removal:

5) Cleaned up and finished! Let her run then took her for a spin and no immediate signs of a leak!

HUGE thanks to infinitidude and rsingerG35! Simple fix and a money saver.
