Is your Service Engine Soon warning light on in the instrument cluster? If so that's the first place to go to figure out issues like this. You'll need to have the trouble code read either at an auto parts store or repair shop or you can do it with a cheap Bluetooth scanner and some sort of app that can interface with scanner. You'll get a code or codes that look like this: P0340. Then armed with that knowledge you can look up the Infiniti/Nissan codes and it'll tell you what's wrong. Here's an example. https://www.autocodes.com/make/infiniti If you have the ability to fix even minor issues you'll save a ton of money on repairs.
Thanks Blue Dream. That's my next step for certain. From what I'm reading it is probably a bad Cam Timing Sensor. Aggravating to get to but basically a simple (and inexpensive - for Infiniti) repair. Someone else suggested disconnecting the battery for 8 hours to allow a reset. Since it happen late on a Sunday afternoon, the Grey Ghost is all snuggled up in the garage for the night with her battery disconnected. AutoZone in the morning. ~ LH Louie

Don't buy an aftermarket camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. I don't advocate OEM much but here I will. Our motors are notorious for not playing nice with aftermarket sensors, they either work for a short time our not at all. You can get OEM on Amazon for about 2/3 the dealer price.
