Cluster and AC dead, transmission locked
Hello all,
My daughter now drives my 2007 G35x Sedan (and freaking loves it). It has 135,000 miles and has been going strong.
But strange issue came up yesterday. She filled it with gas and ran it through a car wash at a high quality car wash in town. Then drove it about 5 miles and that is when things went south.
All gauges on the dash went dead. A/C quit and the unit appears dead. She parked it and the transmission then locked in Park. The range warning screen started flashing and reading 265 miles (seems like plenty - no need for that warning). and the key fob yellow light (not the low battery light) came on.
No check engine light, or any other dash lights are on. I can start the car normally and it drives with no issues. I have to use a small screwdriver to release the transmission from park using the bypass switch, but otherwise, no problem.
I'm guessing electrical or maybe just a blown fuse? Transmission shift lock fuse? or a board of some sort? I can take it to my local Infiniti but 1) that won't be cheap and 2) any idea of possible issues before I hear from them would help me understand what might be wrong.
Got a guess? Winner gets a visual pat on the back and thanks from me

Not familiar with 2007, but sounds like water got into the IPDM module that sits under the battery (if it didn't move from the 2006 model). Check the windshield cowl drains to see if they are plugged with dirt. Remove battery to see if there is evidence of water under it. If IPDM got/is wet, you could try putting it in a container of rice for a while to dry it out. This will only work if it hasn't yet been fried, and is still in the just shorting out stage. Is the underbody shield still in place? If the car wash has undercarriage wash feature, that could have blown water into places it's not intended for.

Nice when it's simple. Question now is whether blown fuse was coincidence or if water got into the fuse box or wiring somewhere, created a short and popped the fuse. I'd find out exactly which fuse it was and if it happens again, you know there's more trouble shooting to do.
Hello HKBazzi,
I hope it is what we had. It was one of the fuses in the box under the hood, not in the car. I think it is next to the battery. It was a cheap repair except it took Infiniti a couple of hours to figure out what the problem was. Ugh.
Tell them to check the fuse first, or check it yourself.
