Rev Hang New to Infiniti
Rev Hang New to Infiniti
I just picked up a nice 2007 G35 coupe. I liked a lot of things about this car. it is my daily drive car so I can keep my toy safe in the garage for fun time. Just enough HP to enjoy the drive a little more each day. I have owned many sports cars but never an Infiniti. I have always liked the look of the car. So I am new so be kind please as I do not know much about Nissan engines. When I shift gears there is a lot of rev hang. It makes me want to wait between gears. None of my other manual cars do this. the only thing that was close to this was my 2016 WRX which i no longer own. Is this just the way the engine works or is there a way to lessen this feature?
I don't notice any with my '04 6MT sedan or my '02 6MT Maxima. I know Honda/Acuras have an issue with this and it's a check ball in the hydraulic system that can be removed. Don't know about Infiniti having that though.
Check for any vacuum leaks. Intake pipe as well as the three hoses on the PCV system. If you can turn the hoses by hand they're probably leaking.
If it's all OEM rubber you should consider replacing it with something like this.

I have the revup as well and there used to be a LITTLE bit of rpm hang before I put a lightweight flywheel on. It was barely noticeable before and now it's 100% nonexistent.
