Question Is this install bill accurate? For coilovers, front brakes and cats?

I was just given the total for installation of some mods at my local aftermarket shop, and it seems a little high in terms of hours spent. Does this sound right? I thought they had originally said it would be around $700-$800 total. Obviously I want a quality job done, and that's most important. But I also don't wanna get skinned. Thanks in advance.

6 hours - install Tein Basic Dampers
2 hours - install AP Racing brakes (front only)
3 hours - install steel braided hoses, bleed, etc.
3 hours - install Crawford cats
---------
$1,050 total for 14 hours labor
$ 80 four wheel alignment
$ 42 brake fluid, tax, etc.
---------
$1,172 grand total

that is extremely overpriced. Get a quote from somewhere else. Work like that shouldn't cost more than $500. I installed my tein basics with just a buddy and we took ~3.5 hrs.. we didn't have a lift or power tools and we were taking our time.. the brakes are pretty easy to install as well.. i'd say the full brake install should take ~2hrs altogether.. crawford cats shouldn't take too long.. at most 2 hrs.. I've bled brakes on a sedan and it took about 45mins.. and we did not have an auto bleeder, had to do manual (1 person pump on brakes other person bleed it).. so auto bleeder only requires one person and would be a lot quicker.. so basically.. you're getting ripped off

6 hours for TEIN Basic??? Something is definitely not correct here, check elsewhere. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately that was a bill after the fact rather than a quote in advance. I called two other shops in Austin with good reputations (Pro Tech Performance - John 512-834-8771, Japanese Specialist 512-472-4977) and they both quoted around 7-8 hours total. That, combined with your input, allowed me to politely compromise at 10 hours total. So all is not lost.

BTW, those Crawford cats are freakin' loud!!!

Lee, thanks for the offer. Let's meet up sometime. I just found out some of our new neighbors work at Freescale!

Why would they charge you 3 hours for SS lines and bleed, when this wouldn't have taken hardly any extra time since they already replaced the calipers anyway for 2 hours worth of time?? Were the SS lines also put in the rear? Even if, that's still highly unreasonable.

Not to rub it in, and this is not exactly the same but I got my Stoptech Stage 2 brake kit ( rotors, pads, ss lines, Motoul fluid) and Eibach prokit installed in under 3 hours for $200 Canadian.
