Re: Brake Booster Cover

Don't waste your time. The 350Z cover will NOT fit on the G; I have confirmed this.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

The brake booster cover in the picture in my previous post is located on the driver's side of the engine bay close to the windshield. It covers the brake booster, brake lines, master cylinder, etc. that are visible on a G35 from the factory. Compare the pic from my earlier post to the attached pic.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

Very Nice! Did you use a plastic Sheet (1/8th) and cut to shape? BTW, I like the plenum cover. What type of paint did you use?

Re: Brake Booster Cover

I made a cardboard template and then cut 1/8 inch thick lexan to size. As for the paint, it was a hi-temp spray from Auto Zone; I can't remember the exact brand or color, though.

Wow! I really like what you did. How is it attached?
Where can I get lexan? I want to do mine like yours.

God I love this car!

Re: Brake Booster Cover

On the left side of the cover, it actually fits perfectly within the seals. On the right side of the cover, where there are no seals, I used a small piece of double-sided bodykit tape to secure it.

I imagine a Home Depot or Lowes would have the Lexan. I found a piece in the maintenance department where I work. I used a flat black hi-temp spray paint to finish it off.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

Sheets of Lexan can be bought at Home Depot, near where they sell windows. It varies in thickness, and you can get all different qualities and sizes. It's really tough to cut correctly though, as it's somewhat brittle and prone to cracking if you try and force it.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

What did you use to cut the lexan?
I have a Dremel tool with cutting heads,
I assume this would do the job.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

The guys in our Maintenance shop did the cutting. I will ask them on Monday what they used. The Dremel would probably work, though.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

myG35zx,
The paint is Plati-kote Blue Metal Flake 311. It matches very well depending on the lighting as it won't change colors to keep up with the caribbean blue.

Re: Brake Booster Cover

The best thing to cut the lexan with would probably be a band saw if you have access to one. The dremel would do, but a lot more work.
