The driver and the street mean so much more than paper specs.....
Yes, I totally agree. I simply think the testers were merely using the BMW M3 as a benchmark, which everyone can identify with.

ISM, if you think it's retarted to compare a G35 to a BMW M3 and the thought of discussing it is a waste of time, then please by all means there are many other discussions on this forum to participate in other than this one.

The original poster had an extremely valid question on getting his car up to a certain level without going FI. He chose the m3, because that's a car that has a lot of respect...but it's not something ridiculously fast like a Lamborghini.

The topic of modifying the G35 engine has always been a heated discussion with a lot of different opinions and experiences contributed by it's members. So what if the bench is an m3? That's a great bench to try to get up to...and a lot of members on this forum could benefit from the knowledge shared here on modding the car.

So I think it's kind of snobby for you to say we need to get a life for trying to compare our cars to m3's...if you don't like the topic being discussed and you feel it's "retarded" there's a lot of other threads on here.

Thanks

NUMBER ONE - the only poster who said it was 'retarded' - as QUOTED - is YOU. Don't QUOTE things that aren't ACTUAL QUOTES.

NUMBER TWO - If you actual READ my posts - you'll see I DO NOT think that the M3 is a 'retarded' benchmark to begin with.

NUMBER THREE - as this topic has been discussed many times on this board -
AND that the original posted question has turned into at least, what...6 different discussion on this thread alone, should tell you that FI is NOT the only way to go.

NUMBER FOUR - I am one of those G35ers that consistently BEAT M3's - and I don't have FI. So this board is so ON TOPIC FOR ME - IT'S STUPIDLY SILLY!!!

Maybe you should research the posters that actually make sense here - and contribute WISELY AND WITH EXPERIENCE - BEFORE YOU BASH THEM.

Because your the 'PIMP IN YOUR RIDE' - maybe you can let us know what you've done to your ride - your profile and signature show you to be a puff of smoke....so drift away....

ALSO - LEARN TO SPELL RATARDED!!!

you know, i'm lazy. and i hate pointing out misspelled words, because i do it all of the time... but you shouldn't condescend others when you misspell words in the same post - actual (actually), and he spelled retarted - you spelled ratarted... he made a mistake, no big deal, so did you... i'm not sure what you were insinuating.

relax man....

1 - I am relaxed - I just don't like it when people unknowingly flame others.

Also - I don't seem to see where the actual/actually issue is in my post...but nonetheless - as we all like to pay attention to details - it's just one that shows some of us don't do it as well as others...that's the insinuation.

Want to talk about insinuation? I believe that's what your original post was all about.

waiting for video
anyway.. is it possible? sure
I think so
it all depends on the driver
I took down a Boxster S with my G
and got my *** handed to me by another one!

I had a 5.30i, and got my *** handed to me by a G
but when I drive the G, I feel it weaker than my 5.30
oddly enuff
and I talked to that guy who handed it to me and he said he was running stock

both Boxster S guys told me they were pushing it
I'm no driving god.. I'd say I'm slightly better than ur average driver

end of the day, back on topic.. can a G35 take down an M3 with a few add-ons without going FI.. I believe it's possible if u got the right driver, and the right setup

now if u go FI, u'll ravage those things
I've seen it with my own eyes

now as far as street racing goes
let's be honnest.. A LOT more plays into the game
it's not just about power
u need handling, brakes, and everything
how many times have u raced on a highway and it was totally empty?
that's what I thought
u got other factors like other cars blocking ur line
I kept up with a Carrera 4S thanks to those factors!
I got lucky how traffic was swerving in my favor

am I faster than a 4S? HELL NO

anyways.. to answer the OP.. it's possible
how? that's a whole other debate.. and I think u ought to practice ur skills first
cuz fast driving is smart driving.. it's not all about power and what's on the spec sheets
put the same driver in both cars stock.. there is no argument the M3 is faster
but that's the beauty of modding cars
I picked my G over an M3 based on the fact that I could mod my G35
all the parts I found for an M3 are the price of some cars

Anyone ever race an 05 G35 vs an 03 G35 both *stock* from a roll to oh.. 140? I'm thinking that those extra horses would give the 05 an edge in upper gears. Therefore, adding another extra twenty horses to the 05 would allow for some respectable gains in top end power. Enough to keep up wih that M3. I'm thinking that from a dig, the M3 would be harder to keep up with than from a roll. Just speculation..

Tex do you have any other mods. I mean I'm with you. I see no reason why a NA G35, especially with this new plenum mod, couldn't keep up with an M3. I don't think you have any reason to lie about your experiences. The truth will come out anyway.

But, is this your only mod? It seems like your success came from rolling starts.

I jump on people who say its not possible like you. When we did it!
