Blitz filter
Blitz filter
thinking of buying the blitz filter does anyone have it installed?
there are two types they sell one is a stock replacement filter the other a cone shaped type made of a metal mesh that will also work in the stock intake as i was told. I was thinking of getting it plus the installing the stillen venturi ring will that do anything for me. instead of buying the stillen intake? does the ring do anything if installed on the stock intake and where does it go ? or am i better off getting a used z intake. I am just trying to figure out some combo that will basically give me the same thing with out buying the stillen .............

Re: Blitz filter
I probably would not consider the Blitz filter, I've read on some other forums that this filter does not remove enough of the particles in the air and as a result this gets into the engine. I've not heard any good things about the Stillen set-up either. If you want to go CAI, Injen makes one for the G35C.

biscotti,
What bad things have you heard? I for one am impressed at the fit and finish, power delivery, and the oem look of the Stillen unit. As for particles getting through (Blitz or Stillen), please forward me any information you have found on this board that supports your claim. Links to those forums you speak of would help as well. I have also not heard of members with the Stillen unit having complaints. If there are members with complaints, please feel free to explain them. My pics of my setup is above. BTW, FAL900 has a sedan not a coupe which the Injen will also fit as well. I like the look of the Injen, but not where the filter sits. IMO, I think it would suck up too much hot air from the road surface, and there is a serious possibility of hydro-locking the engine with the Injen. Also seems that Injen is taking their sweet time replacing older gen CAIs with the newer ones that won't stall the engine on a 6MT. However, the Injen unit does provide a few more ponies (so they say) than the Stillen (at what price?)
Ultimately, consumers will look past problems of a product if they really want it. If there are truely problems with any products I own, then I for one want to know about it. So far I have not heard of any supported claims or problems of the Stillen unit.

Re: Blitz filter
fal900,
I have the blitz intake, I have had this unit for about 8 months now, so for so good, no problems so far. I don't believe that the blitz intake will allow any more dust then the other filter on the market. The thing I like about the blitz filter is that you do not have to oil the filter everytime you wash the filter. The only thing I don't like is that blitz recommends that I wash the filter every month ( I am really lazy).

Re: Blitz filter
Oh, forgot to mention that the Stillen unit has a K&N cone filter and a venturi ring (velocity ring). Getting to the filter element to clean is also easier than the Injen.
Re: Blitz filter
I have had the Blitz CAI for 8 months now with no problems.I think the Stillen and the 350Z tube with the Blitz is the best combo. With paper filters, the oil builds up and collects dirt after a while on the edges of your whole intake and plenum. My 1990 300ZX had a k&n filter which I cleaned&oiled and that happened.

I put a K&N drop in filter for now until i decide on a CAI but i dont know if its my imagination but the car seems more restricted than before, the gas pedal feels heavier. Could it be?
(the car was being serviced yesterday but i dont know if that had anything to do with it)

Re: Blitz filter
Sweet setup FlightG35. The only other person that I knew was running the Blitz SUS was djrezin8 until his G was divided by a truck. He was running mid 13s with it too. Glad to see other intakes than the Injen and Stillen. Does it also have a venturi ring? Are you going to get the Z Pipe as well? Take care bud.
Re: Blitz filter
Hey thanks for the compliments mbarrad.
Yeah, I agree, I didn't want to do the norm with my G... So I went with Blitz. It was either Blitz or retrofit the Apex'i intake. There isn't a venturi ring such as the stillen one, but the filter flows well. I didn't dyno it yet, although I will as soon as I get my Fujitsubo exhaust installed. I'll let you guys know the results, but won't be alot cause of the 'smart' ECU.
I attached another angle of the pic for you guys as well. Enjoy.

Re: Blitz filter
gdupg35,
I purchased it from a private party for $150.00 but I think it retails for about $220. Not 100% sure. It's not as easy to come by as Injen and Stillen. Also, for those that are not aware, the filter is actually a stainless steel mesh, not paper or foam insert. Pretty unique.
