ECU resets will burn-out ECU

Just got back from the Infiniti dealership. While chatting
with my service advisor, I mentioned this site. He said he
was all too familiar with it. Then he went on to talk about
our desire to reset the ECU with the battery resets. He said
the ECU resets will cause the ECU to burn out, an $1,100
mistake. WTF!!! Yes, he said too many ECU resets will cause
it to burn out. So I guess I will not be buying the battery cutoff.

Re: ECU resets will burn-out ECU

HOW ???

how would it cause it to burn out...

I'm thinking like a pc .. the surge of power after a reset ??

If so ... it is theoretically "possible"

likely ... nahhhh and even if so....

it cannot be proven as far as I know that you did it ... in the first place...

Re: ECU resets will burn-out ECU

Lets call infiniti - they dont return emails...will call next week unless someone else out there gets to it first. That should be under warranty anyway regardless of disconnects. Just DONT DO THE BATTERY CUTOFF UNTIL THEN.

Re: ECU resets will burn-out ECU

OK..OK..OK!
I was astonished at what he said also. But he passed
himself off as someone who "thought" he knew so much
about "Nissan Performance" that I had to pass his comment
on to the forum. Claimed to have a 1986 Z with 500 hp.
Is this bull S&^t??
