Makeshift Oil Catch Can
this oil is made up of vapors that have bypassed rings, valve guides, through the crancase vent, etc. It eventually got into the intake plenum where it mixed with ambient air brought in through the intake tube. There is no way of knowing what type of contaminent it might have in it, and there should be so little (I have less than 1/2 cup every 3000 miles) that it seems silly to take a chance reusing it.

No. That would be like draining your oil during a change and pouring the old oil back in... I discard it like used motor oil.
I recently installed one using only the parts in the pics, all from home depot, except for the 2ft. of fuel line hose from an auto store. I also made a custom aluminum bracket so the set up would be sturdy. Driven almost 500 miles, and so far hose has not collapsed and it is about 1/4 full of oil. Great mod that costs me less than $25.

great idea right up until the point while emptying it the o ring that seals the canister to the housing decided to make a break for it and leap into the bowels of the engine bay never to be seen again.

^^^ yep... be careful... once you do it a few times its no prob... the O-ring kinda seats itself and all you need to do is wipe around the threads...
It came off on me the first couple of times... but now its second nature...
However, I have purchased an NRG can from caskyline and look forward to not having to empty every 300 miles (plus it looks much better - well, it will once powder coated)

yea well mine is gone. Issue now is replacing it. My options are finding the right size at a hardware store, not likely. Or buying a new catch can stealing the o ring out of it and returning it for a refund. Much more likely.
