World Cup
I finally saw some games last weekend. No cable poor me. But the US played real well, even though we pnly tied and our goal was scored by the other team. France is good but they needed to stay aggressive instead of letting Korea come back. And Korea did play a good game and made a nice goal to tie it up. I really really want to see Brazil play though.
im just happy trinidad got a tie lol. they did well against england too, they just got tired. im pretty annoyed with the us team and actually all of the us announcers. they're all decent players but they're not on the same level as a lot of the better teams. they're only ranked 5th to try and gain popularity for the sport here. its just annoying hearing commentators butcher the sport and compare every other team to the usa. sorry about the rant, id just rather watch the games unbiased. otherwise, brazil is sick as always, france doesnt seem to be what they used to, germany is a menace, italy has some good players and thats about all i can remember.
Yeah the US announcers are kinda bad. Only because they are biased though, hell they are former players so I can't really blame them. I didn't see the first game but was impressed with how they played against Italy. Italy isn't a huge powerhouse but they are pretty damn good. For the US to outplay them and almost score with less people is impressive.
USA announcers arent just biased, they are retarded....they were talking about not wanting Ghana to win by more goals due to goal differential and any moron with half a brain would know we would be fighting goal diff against the Czech's or Italy but not ghana since we play them last.
They also dont seem to know the rules of soccer, even though I know they do, i guess they get caught up in the game but when they are sitting there trying to figure out what the ref called or why he did this or that and everyone exept them knows whats going on...it just makes them look like morons!! I was close to watching it on mute this past Saturday.
For example the Czech red card against Ghana was a no brainer but it took the ref a good 30seconds to give it, but the announcers are going on about how he gave decent which got him a red card but decent isnt a red card and bla bla bla...IDIOTS.....ok sorry, but i'd rather hear a monkey screwing a goat than hear their idiot commentary again.

dabomb knows what hes talking about. its pathetic how they challenge every call against them and try to get sympathy for the us. they call free kicks, place kicks. they barely understand offsides traps. they pretend the us has some great plan of playing a 4-1-4-1 formation which everyone really knows is simply a 4-5-1 with a midfielder falling back. oh the BEST part, 1 of the announcers knew nothing about soccer 3 months ago. i still think its funny that the only country its not called football is here.
sorry dont take this as a bash on the us, cause its a great country. its just a bit arrogant when it comes to trying to be better than the rest of the world in a sport thats been played for ages.
+1 except I disagree with your analysis of the Italy-USA game
USA did indeed dominate the first 30min of the game (although they did give up a stupid goal trying to use the offside trap in their own 6yard box). The Italian redcard actually took that control and momentum away because the US seem to think that made it guranteed they would win so they stopped controlling the ball. Then after the 2 US redcards both teams got worn down very fast. Using beasley instead of Eddie Johnson was plain stupidity IMO because that was our chance to get a cheap one and win the game. I think the USA would have scored a 2nd goal had the game stayed 11-11, but thats not to say the USA wouldnt have gone in a hole and allowed the tying goal 3min later.
All in all, this is NOT the best USA team, they are NOT 5th in the world, the got a horrible draw, and the fact that they have a "chance" to advance is amazing to me.

um you seem to forget the us never scored a first goal. it was a lucky break that italy scored that own goal. i still think it was simply a matter of the us pushing the entire game because they needed the win more. italy simply sat back and played when they needed to. again, thats just my opinion.

dave o'brien is the guy i mentioned that called hockey a few months ago. guys a moron. the older guy is giorgio chinaglia. he played in italian club teams as well as their national team. i believe he also played some with pele. for some reason he started playing in american leagues which is the only reason espn allows a foreigner to call games.

Anyway, the rule states that any foul by the last defender than prohibits a blatant 1v1 situation is an automatic redcard. This does not have to be from behind, dirty, or anything. If the last defender takes a player out anywhere on the field to prevent a 1v1, its a red card. It just so happened that this one occured in the penalty box therefore Ghana also got a PK in addition to the redcard.
