I can understand dropping a car for the lower center of gravity, and I can understand off-roaders wanting clearance. But does it really help with clearance lifting a car up that high as opposed to a couple inches lower?

With "flexing" yes. going over a rock, ditch, or car... when the shocks compress and the tire goes into the fender, thats when the clearance matters. I have a video of him running over a car in a parking lot... pretty funny... I'll try to find it and post it...

im sure it also brings publicity to the shop he owns.
