Im going to drive down to key west the first week of February. im trying to stay on a budget.This will be my first time in Florida and im not very familiar down there. I was wondering if any locals or others can give me some recommendations of cheap safe places I can stay. Im going to be there for two or three days only. Also some places and beaches,clubs to go to. Thats where I want to spend my money, not in an hotel. Thanks

nicer hotels would be the Hyatt on Duval and the one right across the street but cant think of the name at the moment. Both have great views of sunset. Other B&B's are fairly decent. Keep in mind there is two fairly distinct areas as you move up and down Duval. One straight and one gay so choose your preference !!!!

The hyatt is nice and right by the beach but really the beach in Key West is not that great. If you want to be right in the middle of everything then I would stay at one of the cottages at http://www.centercourtkw.com/ and there are a couple others.

agreed I do think cottages offer the better value. Oh stay off the damn mopeds. Seen way to many accidents down there.

The beaches in Key West aren't the best. There are a lot of rocks in the water.
