vortech gone bad! need help

so i was driving in newport beach, not even hauling or anything, just cruising........i started to hear a noise, but only when i would turn, well slow down i guess. the noise wasnt constant but out of nowhere it started being constant enough for me to pop open the hood and take a look. i noticed the crackling grinding sound was coming from the supercharger unit and when it would gring, it would make the unit shake a little, before i knew it i didnt hear the vacuum sound anymore. dead silence, my car is running great(stock). the vortech is disabled. any ideas before i get it to the shop, i am socal by the way....any recommendation on what shop to take it too so they dismantle my piece of s***

any similiar experiences out there???
thanks

oooooooh. i also noticed dust like particles that seemed to be grinded metal....key info

Sounds like the blower has bite the dust but I could be wrong, I would send it back to Vortech to get it looked at and fixed if that was the cause.

Sounds like it seized, but if it did the belt sound be making a lot of noise. Get it checked out before you do further damage to the SC or maybe even the engine.

It's very possible that the small metal pin that sits in the pulley keyway busted and the jackshaft is just spinning inside the cog or grooved pulley. Take a look at the bolt in the center of the jackshaft, this bolt turns with the pulley on both sides of the shaft.

If the cog belt is spinning the pulley on the back of the supercharger housing then it is probably something similar but inside the supercharger shaft.

First see if the cog belt is turning, if it's not then it should be an easy fix somewhere inside the jackshaft. I recently replaced the bearings inside the jackshaft and it wasn't extremely difficult, I still need to do a write up about that now that I think about it!

you can take it to Extreme Automotive in Canoga Park. That's who installed the Vortech on BeerViper's G. They know the kit and they know Vortech too (I mean the owners). Ask for Shawn.
