Besides the Vortech SC kit and the Stillen SC kit, are any other FI kits 50 state smog legal?? I know that certain stages of the Stillen kit are not legal but I am not looking at that kit anyways. I pretty much have it down to the Vortech SC kit and the JWT TT kit. Is the JWT TT kit smog legal?? Being in Cali, I want a smog legal kit because the fines here are pretty steep if your car is not smog legal. My G is a daily driver and I am not looking to build a 500hp+ track monster. I just want more power for those occasions when I do go to the track. If I can get 375-400hp, I will be more than happy (for now).

Vortech and Still is your only choice. No Turbo kit out there that is Carb legal and even JWT (probably will never pass). I say just go get the vortech and follow Sentry65 setup and you can easily hit 450 whp. You will not get 375 with Stillen maybe 340 on stage 4.

What is Sentry65's setup?? The Stillen is not an option for me. I hate the hood and don't like the performance gains or look of that SC. If I get a SC, it's the Vortech SC all the way.

Wow! Okay, that's quite a setup. I'm not sure I wanna go that far. I'll probably just be happy with the full Vortech kit and with 375-400hp.

If you go that high with the Vortech make sure and have a second tune for the SMOG test because the Vortech is only legal with the base tune.

in most states the greddy kit is legal. I know it is legal in texas and a number of other states. Probably not CA because the restrictions there are the worst in the world literally.

Tell me about it!! And if you get caught, they take an arm and a leg and your first born so it's not worth it to me to not be smog legal here in Cali.

That's the idea.

Hmm do they do smog tail checks still on new cars? You have a 06. They should only be doing the OBDII scan check for CELs for 3-5 years?

Or are you referring to if they actually pull you over and check? I wonder if you got the STS turbo, if they would notice! haha. I'd assume they would have you open the hood. "what turbo?" hehe.

I have a similar issue in Atlanta...emissions tests. Will the kits pass that? I don't think the SMOG test is an issue.

In any heavily Mod car knowing someone is a good thing here in NY I used to just pay someone $80 and they just pass me (Back in my Integra days)

Yeah, that's what I meant . . . emissions.

LMAO!!! I did the same thing with my Civic SI. That thing wouldn't pass in a million years!

If I lived in CA, my setup wouldn't pass CA emissions with my vortech.

I'm not using the stock vortech fuel system which was CARB approved. They'd pop my hood, see my fuel pressure regulator and that'd be an instant fail even if I did pass the OBDII scan and the sniffer test. I wouldn't pass visual.....unless things were hidden REALLY well and in weird places

In CA, if a cop pulled me over and wanted to pop my hood - (from all the vortech sounds this would be inevitable), he'd see the CARB sticker, but notice all the different fuel system stuff and send me off to "fix" it.

This has happened to people with modified vortech setups in CA

in addition to the fuel system, I'm not using the stock cats or stock vortech pulley which would also fail visual inspection. I don't think cams are CARB approved either, but they probably wouldn't notice those. Also I don't know if the rpms you set your idle to has any bearing on emissions testing in CA or not either...
