if u had the chance to go back
if u had the chance to go back
Hi im a long time lurker and have been reading and learning more and more about Fi applications for the g and the z on these boards. I still consider myself a noob even though I have been researching and sound a lot more confident when i read some of the threads by other noobs likey myself asking questions about turbos.
My question is not which turbo is better but if you had a chance to go back which kit would you have choosen given the fact that there are some new kits on the market today.
Im still currently decidng which kit I want for myself so this would help me greatly. Im stuck between a Aps TT or a JWT kit. Or consider the HKS kit that recently came out. My goal of power havent been decided yet but this car is going to be track and I dont have a budget to say

If I had the chance to go back, I would have just stayed stock
It's not like I don't enjoy my car, but I just don't care about power as much these days when you rarely get to completely use all of it. It also gets old spending money all the time on little things here and there

If I had the chance to go back, I wouldn't. I doubt if I would go this route again anytime soon though (1 car with FI is enough for me)! I've learned so much in the process but I had no idea how much time and energy it would consume...
You gotta be willing to throw $20-$40k into a pit that will return you nothing but a mixture of joy, frustration, and adrenaline all rolled into one. If you can live with that, then go for it!
In regards to your kit selection, I would find your builder/tuner first, then make a decision. Good luck.

I'd definately go back to stock... but I feel I'm too far into it now... I'll wait til next year and biuld it.
However, to try and answer the question... in the first year I loved and enjoyed the boost, I'd probably try something like Turbonetics ST setup.
I would not change a thing. I did it the right way from the start...so my car is as reliable as it was when it was stock.
What I would have done differently is I would have done a Stroker motor from the start instead of building one now.
Go with the JWT....in my opinion, its the best.

i would have done the engine build at the same time, all at once. its going to save you money in the end. i went with the jwt 530bbs, but I wouldve just gone with the 700bbs from the start with the build, also cant forget hks vpro.
But then again, its a ton of money and maintenance if you dont do EVERYTHING RIGHT from the start. Sometimes I actually wish I just upgraded my cams after the basic bolt ons and got a technosquare reflash.
