Can I put GM Synchromesh in my 6mt?
Can I put GM Synchromesh in my 6mt?
I own a 98 honda prelude and gm's synchromesh works wonders on the tranny and Im hoping it can work with my wifes g35 to get rid of the notchy feel and grinds from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st, anyone know if its compatible?
Honda Preludes and Acura TL's are front wheel drive cars... thus they have less notchy gearboxes due to the way the gear shifter is connected to the actual transmission... whereas our RWD G35's have the shifter lever going directly into the tranny. You feel more vibration and notchyness as a result. Our cars are still notchier than most RWD cars though.. but it's not really problematic or annoying, at least to me.
I wouldn't use synhromesh in our trannies. They're known for being very finicky transmissions about gear oil. I would just stick with the OEM dealer gear oil for the tranny since it's a very strange weight anyways(something like 85-90).

Nissan requires the following:
"Genuine NISSAN Manual Transmission Fluid
(MTF) HQ Multi 75W-85 or API GL-4, Viscosity
SAE 75W-85 or 75W-90"
You could try:
1) Amsoil Synthetic Manual Transmission Gear Lub, which is 75w-90 API GL-4.
or
2) Redline MT-90, which is 75w-80 GL-4.
Don't know the side effects (if there are any). There shouldn't be but I can't say for sure since I don't have any personal experience with those 2 products in the G....
Good luck.

absolutely nothing from what I see. Even though it was made for gm cars it is still perfectly compatible with honda transmissions and works wonders. I was hoping for the same with the g35 but I guess not
