Requiring CARB exemption makes it easy, IMHO. Vortech Complete Kit. No worries.

Savng up is for when something goes wrong. It's not a question of "if" something will go wrong but "when" it will go wrong and how bad it will be. If you are lucky it will be minor. If you are unlucky, that's when you will need that extra savings to fix whatever gets broken. That's just the nature of FI.

I know that CARB requirements are of public record, but what kind of real experience can a shop in Georgia have with C.A.R.B. (California Air Research Board) problems in the California area for the California people.

Great question. Hexxum, I'd like to know what problems you have had as well going FI and why.

The "is FI safe" topic has been beat to death. Your best bet is to not wait for an answer in this thread, but rather search the FI forum here and on my350z. I'm not going to lie, it's going to take some time. This is not an easy topic to comprehend and as always, knowledge is your best friend when it comes to FI. No, my G is not Fi'd yet, but I have had plenty of turbocharged cars in the past.

In the summer of 2007 Vortech started using bearings from a different company/manufacturer. Those bearings where **** and quite a few Vortechs sold that summer went bad. Unfortunately, I had one of the defective units. BUT, luckily for me, it was covered under Vortech's warranty so they took care of it and even extended the warranties for everyone that purchased defective units from 3 years to 5 years. So I got lucky but there are many others that have not been so lucky and had to shell out thousands to fix what went wrong.

I will tell you that there is a vendor on my350z that quoted me around $4700 for the FULL revup Vortech V3 kit shipped. I could do the install myself. Tuning, I would assume around $1000. So we're looking at right around $6k for the full kit, install, and tune.

Don't forget to budget for sensors, gauges and other electronics. Also drive train support as needed.

+1. A GOOD boost, air/fuel, and EGT gauge would be a minimum for me.

I'm partial to HKS or something comparable to keep the stock look:

The more sensors installed, the more it makes sense to go with something like this because the cost of standard gauges, gauge pods, etc will get higher than the cost of this approach.
