So I'm in the midst of doing my Greddy TT install within the next few weeks and im on the hunt for a good EMS. I've been hearing about the Turbo XS UTEC but I'm not sure if that is the best way to go. Especially after seeing that majority of the people who are selling them on the marketplace, upgraded it to either like a haltech or FCON. My thing is i dont want to go with the UTEC if im going to end up just like them wanting to sell it. Of course im hearing that the full standalones is the better/safer route to go with the TT setups than piggyback systems, but if i dont really need it, I'll just stick with getting the UTEC. Has anyone experienced or heard about any issues with using the UTEC with Greddy's kit? Or know the additional benefits with going with a full standalone? Keep in mind im not doing a major build and i plan on keeping the boost levels low seeing im on a stock block. My goal is to be around 400whp and 400tq which i hear can be done safely on a stock block.
If a haltech or FCON is not really neccessary for "low" levels (low meanin my goal of 400 compared to ppl making over 5-600 with this kit) and i can save a grand by buying the UTEC....I'll do that. But if haltech, FCON or any other EMS you guys recommend for this kit would be the better in the long run...i'll look into that. Ughhh...this is aggravating lol

I have been running the utec ever since i installed the Greddy twins and havent had a problem with it for almost 6 years.If i had to switch id just run the osiris with those power goals.

Who is tuning it? The tuner is more important than the system, you could have the best system in the world but if your tuner isn't comfortable with it you're going to have problems. An up-rev ECU reflash would be the way I would go provided you have an up-rev tuner in your area. Avoid F-con if you can only certain people can tune them and they don't share tunes so if you ever change tuners they will have start right from scratch.

Haltech is the way to go. There's some serious resolution advantages to it, you always have a cleaner A:F all the way through, plus instead of tuning on just math you can also tune on load. So if you (like me) do a 4th or 5th gear pull from 2k rpms, your car will be tuned for that... May not be 100% on a HKS series.
That being said, I use an HKS: IS. And I'm running about 500 wheel on my 5AT. But If the Haltech was out when I was being a computer- I would have definitely jumped on that.

^ +1 on the uprev Osiris. Or look at the haltech complete ecu replacement. That is a few threads down on here.

Up front you would end up getting osiris (or some kind of reflash) for the fcon or haltech (old model) because tuners use the stock ecu to control rev limit, idle, throttle response, cam phasing, and to clear codes. Fcon and haltech are good for more power than what you are wanting.
If you are at that low level then Osiris can be enough as long as your tuner is familiar with the program.
