lol @ megusta

If it happens it happens. The general consensus is not to push over 400tq on the revups without different rods, ill test that out.

jninja: I was at 420hp/340tq for a year without any motor issues, and trust me, I drive the car like I literally stole it. Plenty of drag passes and full throttle runs. Granted I have clutch/flywheel upgrades and I would recommend brake upgrades, but oil coolers and such are not necessary at 400hp. I did rip the rear end out of the car and sheer an axle in half, so I would recommend solid diff mounts if you're doing hard launches.

Those numbers are amazing. What kind of clutch and flywheel you running? I think i need to look at one im putting down 416/323 and starting to really think clutch is gone soon. Again awesome numbers good luck with the pulls this weekend.

Thanks!

My stock clutch would slip sometimes on my N/A tune when i was pushing 280, so i would def suggest you upgrade lol. I'm running a clutchmasters stage 2 kevlar and lightweight flywheel. Seems to be holding fine and is "good" up to 450tq. id probably go with a dual plate clutch if I ever had to replace this one though. I heard the exedy drives like stock. I had an OS Giken super single on my previous G which held great but wasn't really practical for the traffic I sit in sometimes.

I'm sure that's a lot of fun. Get that motor built soon, before it's too late!

Eh if I eventually will have to build it anyway, might as well run it into the ground and have some real numbers to hand out as to what these motors can push with factory internals. I know there have been some proven numbers, but some say 400, some say 375, some say 450 etc...I have an over-capable fuel system, no real exhaust restrictions, a great tune, and I properly maintain my vehicle. Lets see if if any of that will play a role in the engine lasting longer. If not, hey ill build up and go for 550 ;]

thats whats i want to hear from a person who has confidence. Im proud of you for even testing out the strength of the VQ. Much respected.

Well a few days at the drag strip and plenty of beating on it on the street and it is still running without issue. I am however going to buy a beater this week, then over the winter build the motor and switch to turbo so I can see what 600whp feels like (and have the torque to go with it for once) :] Anyone afraid to push the VQ close to 500 on stock internals, id say as long as you have confidence in your tuner and supporting modifications, GO FOR IT! Anyone looking to go supercharged, be on the lookout for my V3 tuner kit for sale. Will include the upgraded intercooler and I have some DW600 injectors for sale as well. Pretty much all you will need for good power is an upgraded fuel pump and the GT maf if you want over 400hp.
