And so the APS install begins

Actually its almost finished, I wish I could have taken some pictures with the engine out but the guy doing the install has it down so well that he is knocking this out quick. Every time I've gone by the shop he's either installing an APS kit or Greddy on a 350Z.

Because I'm getting water injection and sways everything might take an extra day, otherwise the car would probably be ready monday or tuesday. I'm expecting it to be done later next week just in time for Hot Import Nights here in Atlanta. The kit is a clean fit, the shop hasn't addressed the custom piping yet but I'll post pics as soon as they do.

Coating the intercooler black was a no go as well, the company that does it didn't know that APS powdercoats their intercooler, so they would have to strip that off then coat the intercooler black, I just decided to skip it completely.

with everything being in now its so hard to get worthwhile pictures, wednesday would have been perfect. But now the turbos are so tucked away the only decent pictures I'll have will be the intercooler and custom piping. I will take some video of the dyno and my first night out with the car though.

Tony,
You mentioned something about having a new engine. Is that a built-up engine with forged internals, or just a brand new VQ engine? What other mods to you have ( exhaust, plenum, testpipes )? Any gauges installed yet? ...... Good luck on you project, cant wait to see #'s from another G, besides APS's tested G.

There are other numbers out there. Here is a link to a recently completed 350Z APS TT install. Approx 367 WHP on a completely stock car, including completely stock exhaust. Not sure if it is in that thread (there are two on the subject), but I believe a better exhaust was estimated at approx 30 WHP, meaning this Z should push 400 WHP plus or minus a few ponies.

Ive already seen #'s from several Z's at my350z.com forum. I was referring to G35's only, besides the ones tested by APS. Both G3po and KP are installing the APS kit right now, so we should see some #'s on other G35's. ... The exhaust your stating is the APS true dual, the only exhaust out with 2.5" piping, but not yet available for G35 only 350z's.

The new engine is just a regular VQ, no forged internals or anything. I bought the Zeitronix gauges and I already have the nismo exhaust. Although I have test pipes I will be putting the stock cats on just so I can pass emissions when I get the car back, then I'll put test pipes on.

Noticed your also in So.Cal. Is GT motorsports or Brainstorm doing your install. I asssume they're making the custom piping/brackets for the intercooler to fit on your G. .... Damn, seems alot of people are not waiting for that so called " supplemental parts " for the G.

Any shop can make it fit. It's not rocket science.

Yeah, it's GT Motorsports.

Hey GX, how do you like the Kenstyle bumper? I've been considering buying one then modifying it to my liking.

Love my KS bodykit. Makes my G a little different than most. Too many G's out there. APS intercooler will fit just fine with KS bumper. If you get one, consider cutting the lower bar on bottom bumper, looks pretty cool.
