Questions about the Vortech
according to everything ive read about all the FI kits, the clutch is completely adequate for an out of the box vortech, or even a slightly tuned one. maybe if you go with a smaller pulley...
its my understanding that a bolt-on vortech kit requires no other supporting mods, which is one of the reasons its an attractive option for many people.

Randy...this statement may have not been your intent . Pulling timing where the car is running rich ? Did you mean ...pull fuel ? Vortech already has a ton of timing pulled out of the box....to much ...10 degree's after 6500rpm's I think
As far as gauges...I wouldnt run a F/I set up with out a A/F and Boost gauge .
With an A/F and Boost gauge ...you can easilly see when your belt is slipping up top in the rpm range . Boost will be low and A/F will drop. If you live in an area of the US where it gets cold...boost will be higher in the winter and your A/F will lean out some .

Bringing this thread back from the dead..
I am going to do the install myself with a good friend. I am trying to compile a list of parts and part numbers for the extras to be added to the kit before installation.
Anyone have the Gates Belt part number for 3.33 pulley and for 3.12 pulley? And where to order the belt? Also, besides gauges, the NPT tap and various tools, is there anything else that I should buy before the install?
Thanks again guys.

Booger could answer this question, I believe. If my memory served me correctly, the part numbers for the GATES belt ends in 935 for the 8psi pulley (means 93.5 inches) and 930 for the 9 psi pulley...Boog? Also, if I were to do it again (and eventually I will make this change) I would have upgraded my rubber hose lines that came with the system to steel braided. Especially the fuel line hose that goes to the AUX fuel pump.

Randy I never had any problems at all with the fuel lines , pump , or the fmu . So couldnt say . When we did th e rebuild , I ditched it all with the return fuel System . Also the Gates belt part # ending in 935 is a 93.5 inch belt .The one you want for the 3.12 pulley is the gates ending in 930

The only guys [ if I remember right ] having problems with it . Did self installs . The FMU has been known to have the washer get rusted and stick . But can be easily and cheaply fixed with a new one
