NEW VORTECH set up!

Derek from Dsport has sent a G35 to Vortech for a custom SC set up to make big HP . They are going to make a custom pulley set up to get rid of belt slipping . [ all cog belt ] or simular to the ATI set up .
Derek and I would like to know if any of you Vortech guys would be interested in seeing this built for your set up . If enough interest is shown , may be we can get Vortech to produce this for sale . If your interested in seeing it built . Paste your screen name , car type , and AT5 or MT6 in the next post . I'll start

Would the kit still be smog legal? Is this change better for the engine? How much more power?

revup motor....I dont think it would make a diff . Has Vortech put out a kit for it ?

Smog legal...As long as you retain the factory cats...I would think so

This set up...Hasnt been made yet , and we will only have to wait and see what Vortech comes up with . Dsports wants to make big Hp with it . And if to much has to be changed to make it worth the change for the rest of us , I dont think it would be produced . But if they come up with some thing that will be with in our price range and get rid of the slipping belt and the tightening of it all the time . It would be worth it . So if you would like to see it produced...add your name

booger,

the front engine cover is different on the "revup" engines. Because of the variable exhaust cam timing, the front cover is larger and the curren vortech bracket won't fit.

Additionally, these new front cover also gwets in the way of the current belt alignment of the vortech. Therefore, I believe that vortech has to make a new bracket and a new way of getting the belts to the blower.

Honestly, I have no idea about the Vortech kit in regards to the "revup" motor. Hopefully I'll hear back from them this week and I'll ask about it.

Derek,

Cog eh? Sounds loud. Is slipping a huge problem with the kits on the G35? I had a Vortech on my last car and everybody always complained about slipping problems, but I just tightened the sucker down and never had any issues really.

It isnt a problem...you just have to tighten the belt up every once in a while . Its when you start upping the boost into the 13psi range that it slips and you cant tighten the belt up tight enough . The preasure between the blower and the IC gets to high for the belt to hold . A bigger IC is required to flow more air

I doubt the IC is the reason for the slippage. I haven't lookd at its specs, but I doubt it's fine at 6 psi and a problem at 13. It's just the increased output pressure that the blower has the maintain, coupled with a smaller belt coverage area on the pulley. Also, if the smaller pulley isn't anodized, it will be more prone to slip.
