Forced Induction for Auto
Forced Induction for Auto
hey all
so I'm falling in love with FI...
I wanted to know a few things
first off: I have a 2005 AT Coupe
I'm leaning more towards the Stillen Supercharger Stage 1 (cuz it's the cheapest) although what I really want is a turbokit (I have my reasons.. such as boost control when I dont feel like all that power and stuff)
unfortunnately, every turbo kit I seem to find is built only for MT
so I guess I'm out of luck in terms of Turbo
so I had a question regarding the Stillen SC...
if I get a Stage 1... how much would it cost to upgrade to a 2 or a 3? would it be just much more worth it to pick up a 2-3 off the bat?
I've seen the Stillen SC Stage 3 in action..
it's MONSTEROUSLY POWERFUL but left the Z (which I saw the SC on) kind of wobbly.. like.. the guy had horrid traction (despite his Pilot II tyres) and he cldnt corner very well (or at all sometimes)
it slips and slides and stuff
I dun think I really want that kind of instability in my everyday car
will I get this kind of problems with a Stage 1?

The cost of the Stillen stg2/3 is around the same price as the Vortech and if you save up a little more you can go w/ the Tubonetics ST when it comes out for Automatic(unless it has already). *Remember you are going to have to buy a new hood and get it painted
As far as power goes for the Stg1 ... I haven't read anything positive about it. The Stg2/3 is probably the most noticeable for this kit. Like I said it's nothing impressive. Im not knocking the Stillen SC.
With traction issues ... you can have the same effect on a n/a car if the surface you are riding on is a certain way. I have the vortech and I never have any traction problems (although I have 20s) unless the floor is wet.
You control your traction with how foot happy you are ... you obviously going to loose traction w. vdc off and wot all the time ...
This whole thing is my opinion...

thx
I was leaning towards the Stillen cuz I've seen it work..
u get convinced when u see something functionning....
so there are turbos scheduled for the auto? in that case I'll wait...
I'd much rather get a turbo...
which would u recommend??
it's gonna be the first modified G in my country!
(yeah.. there are a total of 18 G-coupes in lebanon.. and 3 are red... 1 of which is me)
I just want to be able to keep up with STis and Evos

i have 04 at coupe , i put the twin td05 greddy kit on 11 moths ago and have not had a single problem, the install was a little tricky. but for the most part it has treated me real well, definitly would recomend it if you have the means.

IMO.. SC is maybe the safest on our stock tranny, due to lower torque power. Stillen is not the cheapest SC, think Vortech is better priced with better HP#'s, does not require new hood. Most if not all Turbo kits will work on 5AT, modified or not. For the price, TN ST will probably be best bang for the buck. Not sure if TN for 5AT is out yet. Now for auto tranny, you can always upgrade your Valve body and Torque Converter, to improve shifting issues or slipping. TC upgrade will improve your launching time. If you go Twins, then would recommend those mods. Another mod, is the Technosquare " L-spec flash " will raise your rev limiter. Most guys with FI, are having traction problems, so maybe stick with 17's or 18's wheels with better tires.
Not read too much on Fcon Vpro. I heard its a great stand alone, but is pricey and need a qualified tuner with that software. Utec is probably less than half the price of the Fcon, and so far has very good reviews on my350z forum. Either is much better than emanage. FCon or Utec, is better suited for a built motor.
You can use the Greddy TT im getting it soon and i have an AUTO. You prolly need a tranny cooler and torque converter and fuel return system and gauges to be on the safe side. If you live around New york i can show u my friend g35 auto with Greddy TT. It is sickkkkk =D
