500HP 2009 G37 Coupe Convertible

they will never make a G coupe more powerful than the GT-R. That would ***** their GT-R "supercar" and they won't do that.
The funny thing is the G37 Coupe really has very little competition if you think about it. What other coupes are there in the $35-40k price range? The stupidly overpriced 335ci doesn't even start in the 30s. And there's no Acura, Lexus, or Audi right now that competes. I think Audi's supposed to bring their 2-door A4 and A6 sized cars out soon (A5 and A7 or whatever they're calling them), but those will be a joke if they're anything like current Audis: Way over-priced, under-sized and under-powered for the price, and not really very sporting at all.

On Japanese Auto Magazine
I just recently read on Japanese auto magazine that Infiniti is starting a development on 5.0 liter V8 luxury flagship coupe said to have more than 400hp set to debut in 2010. It will use transaxle used on GT-R, but the engine is totally different. Probably a new engine developed to replace VK45s. More of a grand tourer like MB CLs than a pure sport like GT-R.

the m5 has a big engine with great hp, but so does a v12 rolls royce (but that doesn't make a direct competition to a bentley continental gt).
i think the gt-r could've been directly compared to the m3, m6, and other coupes, but why sedans (a8)? the a8 is audi's competition to the lexus ls. i would not want to see a comparison article with a porsche 911tt and a full size lexus luxury sedan.
i think if we compare apples to apples, there are still missing segments (i.e. performance division, convertibles, etc...), but i think the largest void is the full size segment.
all though i would prefer the option of a turbo coupe/sedan (like the 335i), it appears the g37 is doing well enough. i've brought up the idea of throwing in a turbo engine into the coupe - and i get reminded of the 300ztt. i don't think the two are equal at all, as one is already priced higher in the market than the other. well see.

actually it's pretty funny you mentioned that -
i think it's because these threads about tt engines, and convertibles, etc... have existed years ago when the coupe was first released. some of the posters' opinions on this thread have had similiar reactions and positions on these earlier threads. but every now and then, someone throws in a new perspective, and that sparks, or i should say, reignites the conversation... again. it's always welcome, until it takes a bad turn.
