What fuel do you all use?

My friend and his wife are looking at an FX35. They were wondering what fuel you REALLY have to use. DO you have to run Premium Fuel or can you get by with 89 or even better 87????

This may be the decieding factor of them buying the FX.

What do you all put in your FX?

I would put the best, its the same engine as the coupe and sedan so i wouldn't put a cheap gas in it.

so $2-$4 difference in the cost of a tank of gas is a deciding factor on whether or not they want an FX?? That makes absolutely no sense to me, if you want the most out of your car, you put the best you can get in it.. Not just performance wise, but longevity as well.

Its a wash because you won't get the same mileage out of a lesser octane of gas. If you do the real calculation you might actually end up using MORE money with 87...eek!!

Premium is "recommended for maximum performance" on non rev-up VQs and required on rev-ups and HRs. Still, IMO, if you can't afford premium gas, you can't afford an Infiniti. Pay for the good stuff or GTFO.

Their thoughts are like this. they were looking at cars... They really like the FX35, BUT they don't wanna go for an SUV that will get lower gas milage to begin with, and then have to use Premium fuel to top it off.

I am not sure what all they are looking at but I know BMW, Lexus IS and a Mini are on the list... I can see where they are coming from. Premium in a car thats getting 20+ is not near as bad as Premium in an SUV at 18 or less.

all the coupe's say premium required. But the early sedans could use a lower grade and the cap says premium recommended for maximum performance.

If they're concerned about fuel economy, tell them to buy a Civic. An FX is a horrible choice for someone looking for something with good gas mileage.
