$850 for 30K service WTF?

It certainly seems incredibly high, but it depends on what they plan on doing. If they are going to do any break work or something of that nature, price is not so unreasonable for infiniti. I was upset when I paid $300+ for my 15k mile. Find out what they plan on doing and take out the stuff that you can do yourself or you dont think you need.

I paid about $450 for the 30K at Jim Coleman in Bethesda. It included a coolant drain-and-fill along with the basic oil change, air filter and inspections. Maybe a few other things, can't remember off the top of my head. For $850 I suspect you might also be getting a tranny fluid replacement and/or differential fluid change.
Go to the Infiniti site, under Ownership (I think). There are three levels of "service" at each service interval, from Basic to Super Big-Bucks premium. Decide which level you want and tell the dealer to price it. That way, you pay for what you want, from a list recognized by Infiniti (if that's important to you). You'll pay a labor rate of nearly $100/hour around here, so it won't be cheap. My two cents.

There are definitely a multitude of things that you can do yourself IF you have the time like all the fluid top offs, fuel and oil additives, air and oil filter replacements, etc... However, your time is the key. If you choose not to do it yourself and have Infiniti do it....you will pay them for their time. Products will cost you and them essentially the same (~$100)...the $200~$300 in labor is the major cost. I personally, view my time as more valuable and don't mind paying someone to do it. Besides, they also balance the tires and do all those "checks".... ) That is just my two cents though.

Hey Duffy...
Passport is pretty good.. They are located in Alexandria... Here is a link to the Maintenance Schedule on the website.
Like SLZ said.. there are three schedules ... let them know which you want... If you go into the dealer and say you need 30K maintenance they will give you the Premium Maintenance... which can run up to $800
