Filed Complaint with Infiniti

I originally posted this in the general discussion section but feel this is probably more prevalant amongst coupe owners. Anyways, I filed a complaint with Infiniti regarding the 'feathering' of the front tires and that it must be related to a suspension issue similiar to that of the 350Z. I have 13k on my new tires and they need replacing already because of feathering. This is my second set of front tires in 22k. At highway speeds, the noise is unbearable. Any other coupe owners who wish to file a complaint as well, the number is 800-662-6200. Maybe enough complaints will force Infiniti to address the real isses which is not the tire.

Does this problem on occur in the '03 models? I have not had any problems with my tires feathering at all.

I believe this effects '03 and '04 Coupes. You can get a camber kit to fix the problem...or try to sue infiniti.

My '04 tires feather, I just paid $60 to my dealer to rotate and flip just the front tires so the inside is now outside. Next time I am going to have to pay for alignment too. I think I will file the complaint.
Write exactly what I should say and I'll call.

I don't know about the tire wear issue yet. I only have 3000 miles on my 06' but it does have a lot of "road" noise that is annoying. Hopefully when the new coupe comes out, they'll address some of these concerns.

Dude like I said its your tires not the suspension. Look at the Bridge stones they are only supose to last 10K miles this is a dead issue I dont know why you think you can get more mileage out of a tire that has a tread rating of 140. Suck it up and get new tires. Buy a tire that will last a little longer Tread rating of 280 or higher should in theory give you twice the mileage. Every coupe that I know changed their tires without bitching like this. Porsche tires last 10k as well what else do you expect from an aggressive suspension and a soft tire. ALL I CAN SAY IS BUY A NEW TIRE THAT IS HARDER.

One thing that was different about my car was when i went to get it alligned (to low to the groud for tire kindgdom so had to take it to a special shop that has a in-ground lift) was they said something with the tires was in a negative to increase performance around cornering which causes the inside of the tire to wear alot faster than the outside. Porsche, ferrari, and lambos have the same thing as well the guy said since he works with them everyday. Is this what your talking about? If not, whats fethering?

15k??? come on...nothing lastst what they say it lasts....ur only 1k off...thats not bad.....

featehring is due to more aggressive driving not anything with suspension....no way......the noise cant be that bad unless you had the belts shifted in the tire.....

Wild121,

There is a difference between tire wear and TIRE FEATHERING.

Tire feathering is when only part of the tires are wearing out, while the other part is not. It's unever wear...which is not normal

I received a call today from Carey from Infiniti Consumer Affairs regarding my complaint filed. Fortunately, when she called I was a block away from the dealer where I purchased my tires. When they pulled my records, I found out that only have 8500k on the tires. After the inspection, their conclusion was there was nothing wrong with the tires. As a follow-up, I called Michelin to file a case as well and there were no known issues with the tires but logged my complaint for future reference. Carey from Infiniti advised me to take my car to my nearest dealer and have it checked. I will do that tomorrow and keep everyone posted. If you are experiencing similar issues with feathering of the front tires, I encourage you to call Infiniti and voice your concerns. From my conversation today, I can tell they have received other complaints other than my own.

My first set had horrible wear front and rear. The insides of both were gone, while the outside really didnt even look that bad at all.
